Why use base-layer rather than a conventional model?
A hunting base-layer is designed to be silent (important for stalking) and offer excellent moisture management. Unlike a mainstream model, it often incorporates technical fibers for odor control and partial windproofing.
What materials to choose for an effective-layer?
Merino wool is ideal for winter, thanks to its natural insulating and anti-odour properties. For active or mid-season hunting, breathable synthetic fibers offer an excellent compromise between lightness and rapid drying.
Can I use a technical underlay in all seasons?
Yes, but the choice of weight is crucial: a lightweight model for spring or summer helps avoid overheating, while a thicker model is preferable for winter hunting.
How do I care for technical thermal underwear?
We recommend washing cold, without fabric softener, to preserve breathability and odor-fighting properties. Air-drying is preferable to avoid damaging the fibers.
Do I need to wear severalbase layers for extreme conditions?
No. It's best to layer a base-layer, a mid-layer and a technical jacket. Multiplying thin layers provides better thermal regulation than stacking under-layers.
